KE ALA O KA MAHINA
Hawaiian Moon Calendar
This Hawaiian calendar is a practical guide for daily activities such as farming, fishing, and planning based on traditional moon cycles. The mahina (moon) is an embodiment of the goddess Hina. The circular design offers a Hawaiian perspective on the flow of time, reflecting the relationships among the spiritual, natural, and human realms. Our kūpuna (ancestors) used the phases of the mahina as a guide to sustain life and maintain balance in the environment.
