submissions are reviewed against the following criteria:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Language and Culture<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Encourages and facilitates a living, vibrant Hawaiian language.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reinforces the contemporary importance and relevance of Hawaiian language, history, oral traditions, literature, practices, beliefs, spirituality, and values.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provides views of our past that are grounded in established Hawaiian traditions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reflects the diversity of established Hawaiian traditions.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Supports long-term perpetuation (and evolution) of hana no\u2018eau.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Perspectives<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cultivates a sense of Hawaiian identity based upon inherent genealogical, geographical, and historical connections to an ancestral past.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contextualizes Hawaiian roles and identity within a sociocultural framework of \u02bbohana, kaiaulu, and l\u0101hui settings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creates opportunities for critical, in-depth consideration of current Hawaiian issues that build understanding for Hawaiians and non-Hawaiians alike.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Teaches everyday life skills, or academic content or skills, using Hawaiian contexts and perspectives.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">Community Well-Being<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inspires or strengthens efforts to restore or maintain the integrity of natural environments and cultural places\u2014especially as these relate to specific locations, entities, and resources; their connections to one another; and their connections to contemporary Hawaiian communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inspires contemporary behaviors that reflect the best of Hawaiian modern, historical, and ancient heroes\/heroines.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reflects a sense of aloha and respect for oral informants in the acquisition and presentation of information and other guidance provided by informants.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inspires and facilitates active involvement in current Hawaiian issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Motivates and enables Hawaiians to take on kuleana (rights and responsibilities) implicit in our roles in our \u2018ohana, schools, workplaces, kaiaulu, and l\u0101hui.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Builds meaningful bridges between Hawaiians and others in our local and global communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Builds capacity for Hawaiian self-determination. <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 class=\"p1\">General Criteria<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Aligns with Kamehameha Schools\u2019 vision for a thriving l\u0101hui and the development of \u2018\u014ciwi leaders.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Conveys a high level of relevance to the needs of Native Hawaiian communities.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Demonstrates intergenerational appeal and impact.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expresses ideas in clear, accessible language.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Uses an approach that is effective and appropriate for the intended audience.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight:
