Manuscript Submission Guidelines<\/h1>\n

H\u016blili <\/span><\/i>welcomes manuscripts in English or \u2018\u014dlelo Hawai\u2018i from <\/span>both established and emerging scholars involved in research on Hawaiian well-being <\/span>from diverse fields such as economics, education, family resources, government, health, <\/span>history, natural resource management, psychology, religion, sociology, and so forth. We <\/span>welcome manuscripts with an empirical focus as well as contributions at the cutting edge <\/span>of theoretical debates and practice in these fields.<\/span><\/p>\n

Submit manuscripts via email to <\/span>hulilijournal@ksbe.edu<\/span><\/a>, preferably as an MS Word <\/span>document. Alternatively, manuscripts may be mailed to <\/span>H\u016blili<\/span><\/i>, Kamehameha Schools, 567 <\/span>South King Street, Suite 118, Honolulu, Hawai\u02bbi 96813. <\/span>Any photos and charts should be submitted as 300 dpi tiff files. <\/span><\/p>\n

Manuscripts typically must not be previously published or be under consideration with <\/span>another publication. The editorial board may make an exception for published materials <\/span>that are central to the knowledge base of Hawaiian well-being and that would otherwise <\/span>have limited distribution.<\/span><\/p>\n

While there is no page limit for articles, content should be concise and relevant. <\/span><\/p>\n

Provide an abstract of approximately 120 words.<\/span><\/p>\n

Provide a title page with the title of the article, author\u2019s name, author\u2019s affiliation, and <\/span>suggested running head (less than 50 characters and spaces). The title page should also <\/span>include the author\u2019s complete mailing address, email, and a brief bio.<\/span><\/p>\n

Style consistent with the <\/span>Chicago Manual of Style<\/span><\/i> (17th Edition) for main text and the <\/span>Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association<\/span><\/i> (7th Edition) for references is <\/span>preferred. Provide appropriate citations, including source citations for all tables, charts, and <\/span>figures. Figures and tables are to be numbered in consecutive series (with Arabic numerals) <\/span>and should be cited in the text.<\/span><\/p>\n

Include a complete and accurate reference list at the end of the manuscript. References <\/span>should be referred to in text by name and year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Use endnotes only when necessary. Endnotes should be numbered consecutively using <\/span>Arabic numerals and added at the end of the manuscript, after the references.<\/span><\/p>\n

Use a Hawaiian font to display proper diacritical markings (\u02bbokina and kahak\u014d) in all text, <\/span>charts, endnotes, citations, and appendices.<\/span><\/p>\n

Prior to submission, manuscripts should be checked for content, editorial style, and <\/span>consistency in citations of references, tables, and figures. Manuscripts will be returned for <\/span>revision at the discretion of the editors.<\/span><\/p>\n

Authors submitting articles agree to allow Kamehameha Schools to publish the articles <\/span>digitally as well as in print form. Kamehameha Schools fully honors the intellectual rights <\/span>of all contributors.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
